kalimath temple is one of the most sacred temple situated in Ukhimath block of Rudraprayag discrict in Uttarakhand. This place has its own cultural and traditional importance. it is the only
siddh peeth (सिद्धपीठ ) in kedarnath valley, situated in an altitude of 6000 ft in the bank of holy
Saraswati river. Kalimath temple is dedicated to Goddess
Kali Mata. it is the legend about the temple that goddess Kali killed
Raktbeej (devil
) here and goes underground in kalimath and that point becomes a ditch after that it is covered by the silver plate permanently and never opened except the day of Navratri festival. hence Inside the temple, it is interesting to know about that there is no statue of goddess Kali. Only that silver plate worshiped in dedication of Goddess Kali.
Another Story- Some local people also believed second history of kalimath temple that when mata sati sacrifice her body in veneration of Daksha Prajapati. Lord Shiva very angry on that action of King Prajapati.
Shiva began start tandava with holing brunt body of mata sati and wherever the piece of brunt body of sati dropped in earth that places in known as Siddhapeeth in later. this story is also the answer of the question that

Navratra is a another holy festival of india. it a nine day long festival in which most of women keep fast in dedication of Goddess NavDurga. in the 8Th day of Navratra called Astami (अस्ठ्मी) in Hindu calendar and dedicated to goddess
Kal-Ratri (कालरात्रि). so this day is celebrate in a mid night as a
Kal Ratri Festival or
kalimath fair here. the festival is also impotent because that day the silver plate where
kali mata is supposed to be present is opened by temple priest and it is strongly believed that if one see the darshan (view) of
Maa Kali that day his/her wish will be fulfilled by
Kalimath Mata.this day the pooja performed outside the temple by the temple priest.
Traditional Importance - it is strongly believed in kedarnath valley that if one purchased any vehicle (either two or four wheeler), it is necessary to be worshiped vehicle in kalimath. after worship, the owner of vehicle put a photo of kalimath temple in the vehicle or bind a string with name of Goddess Kali Mata .
